AIESEC's activities spanning 110 countries enable members to develop competencies and skills in personal and professional activities, while facilitating global consciousness through learning platforms worldwide.
Supported by Dubai International Academic City, the one-day event organised by AIESEC on 11 November in Dubai provided an avenue for business leaders to interact with youth in the GCC region. Dr Ayoub Kazim, Managing Director, Education Cluster - TECOM Investments, was one of the keynote speakers at the event.
Dr Kazim said, "The Education Cluster reaffirms its support to AIESEC, which offers an opportunity for the student community to get involved in shaping policies and opinions related to youth issues. Initiatives such as the Gulf Youth Leadership Summit also serve as a platform for government and business leaders to establish a two-way dialogue with the students. This complements our objective of developing the human capital in the UAE and the region and contributing towards building the knowledge economy."
The summit discussed topics such as youth leadership, empowerment and career progression, human capital development, environmental sustainability, corporate social responsibility, proactive youth, as well as entrepreneurship and its importance.
Hamad Taher, President, AIESEC UAE, said, "As the largest youth-driven organisation in the world, AIESEC is keen to connect the youth with the employer market around relevant issues in the society. AIESEC in the UAE is adamant on engaging and empowering young people in the country and we see the Youth Leadership Summit as a platform that will further this goal. The workshops, sessions and discussions aimed to develop and challenge the mindset of the participating young people for achieving significant positive impact on the society."
In the UAE, AIESEC focuses on the leadership development and cultural awareness at universities through facilitating a Global Internship Programme.
Since 2005, AIESEC in the UAE has been strongly supported by Dubai Knowledge Village, and subsequently Dubai International Academic City as a Founder Partner of the National Office of AIESEC-UAE. The current membership of the organisation diversifies across many institutions of higher education.
